Gregory Ma

Graphic Designer, Brand Strategist, Cat Enthusiast

Hello! My name is Gregory. I am the designer and brand strategist behind Grab Creative. I have been designing logos, layouts, and communicative pieces since 2015. For the past 2 years, I have focused on brand strategy and visual identities. My forte is developing functional visual solutions utilizing an understanding of emotional relationships. I love the flow of creativity and bringing people’s visions to life. Some of my interests outside of design include cats, hockey, and Super Smash Bros. Melee.

What’s with the name ‘Grab’?

While completing a UX Design program, my partner’s family hosted an exchange student from Japan. Over 3 months, we shared a few friendly interactions and a handful of meals. By the end of her stay, she left a heartfelt note thanking the family (and friends involved) for a wonderful stay. Upon reading the note, I came to a realization. For the entire 3 months, she thought my name was ‘Grab’.

The takeaway? A relationship is more than just a name. A brand is not just a logo (or in this case my actual name), rather it is “a customer’s gut feeling about a product, service, or company” (thank you, Marty Neumeier). Your audience takes whatever “raw materials” you provide and makes an emotional opinion out of it. A brand becomes your reputation, and every viewer you interact with will have a slightly different idea about what that means. To build a brand is to cultivate (not control) relationships.

Over the years my appreciation for this accidental moniker grew. I found value in the meaning of the word ‘grab’ (to attract the attention of; make an impression on). As a designer + brand strategist, going with the name ‘Grab’ was a no-brainer.

Practical solutions creatively crafted

Your business’ audience is important. We adapt our design solutions to align with these needs. No matter what the end goal is, we’ll bring it to life.
